RESEARCH: Carol Vernallis Summary

Carol  Vernallis studied editing and camerawork closely in music videos. She gathered that the main difference between a music videos and a filming is the music videos has many base tracks and a films doesn't. The editing in a music video is more flowing and less jumpy than a film. Vernallis identified that the editing in music videos seems to have a rhythmic basis closely connected to the song.

In class we identified Vernallis theory in Adele's Someone Like You video.

There was a black and white old picture edit throughout the video and base tracks of Adele walking on the bridge plus, close ups of her face whilst singing. Also the editing was done in time to the pace of the song which made the video flow nicely and seem appropriate.
