Research for Music Video: Synergy (Music Video and Promotion Stimulus)

Synergy created between an artist's promotion stimulus, for instance an album cover or magazine advert shows that there's a relationship between the two. Here, I've analysed two different artists and found some specific similarities.

Wretch 32's Black And White

 Album Cover

Magazine Advert

The first thing you notice looking at the album cover is that the title is parallel in relations to the colour scheme used, which is solely black and white. The same colour scheme is used within his magazine advert cover and although there are a few other coloured used within his actual music video 'Don't Go', the black and white colours are made prominent and are warn throughout. There is also a similarities in reference to the font used on all the artist's promotion stimulus. The words 'Black And White' are also writing on a wall in the video in the same font used on his Ancillary work which is also highlighting and promoting the album further.

Labrinth's Electronic Earth

Album Cover

In terms of initial similarities when comparing Labrinth's music video, 'Let the Sun Shine' to his album cover, you first notice the resemblance in the colour scheme. He uses the colour black mainly yet there are elements of futuristic, bright and vibrant colours also used on the album cover which reflects in his music video. Also, in reference to props, Labrinth sports black shades in parts of the music video and is also wearing them on the front cover of his album.
